S4G Sportsmen for God...a ministry we support
Our Mission is to create a network of Christian Sportsmen who are committed to the expansion of Christs' Kingdom.
This is a regional, non-denominational group of men that operate under theoverall direction of S4G Ministries. The Chapter plans and coordinates larger events throughout the year as well as develops the ongoing growth and vision of the ministry.
The Team is a group of at least 4 people in your church who gather regularly to fellowship and share meals and other opportunities to engage together in mentoring and fellowship in the outdoors.
The huddle becomes a smaller group of 2- 6 people that gather together and can go deeper with each other in the areas of accountability and discipleship.
A Sportsman for God is a person who has a relationship with God and has a desire to Honor Him by using his gifts and passion for the outdoors to share the Good News of Christ.
The S4G Story:
In 2013 S4G launched with the intention of creating a movement in the name of Jesus through the network of Christian sportsmen and the creation of missional communities. The why behind this is to motivate men to use their gifts and passions for the outdoors as an avenue for fellowship, discipleship and sharing of the Gospel. The following information is provided for those who are interested in launching/participating in the Ministry of S4G.
S4G 4 Guiding Principles:
1. HONOR The Lord our God
2. PASSION For the Name of Jesus
3. COMMITMENT To His Kingdom Mission
4. SACRIFICE No Matter the Cost
Unite groups of sportsmen who have a passionate relationship with Christ and have committed to using all that they have been given to honor Christ sacrificially.
Sportsmen For God (S4G) started with just a few guys wanted to uses their passion for the outdoors for the kingdom of God. Sportsmen For God exists to Create a network of Christian Sportsmen who are committed to the expansion of Christ’s Kingdom. Hunt? Fish? Love Jesus
Gather a Core Team
We believe that leadership is best done in teams. A core team begins with leaders who are passionate about God’s Kingdom, who grasp the mission of S4G, who are passionate about gathering people into this Missional Community to live out the 4 principles drawn from Christ’s life.
Start a Chapter
Beginning a Chapter of S4G in your community is not a formula or a one size fits all experience. However, there are some general guidelines we have found helpful in beginning a Chapter as we have lived this experience and learned from others who have created successful chapters.
Define Your Local Mission
Before adding a larger group of people to begin the Chapter, the core team needs to determine the mission that is unique to your situation, yet is in line with the overall mission of S4G. The mission should be in the form of a short, specific and memorable statement that clarifies the purpose of the group. It serves to remind the group why it exists. This will help the group have clear communication to future participants.
Examples: Faith Mountains Sportsmen 4 God Ministry exists to promote Faith Mountains Mission to: "Love God with all that you are. Love Others like they are family. Create Followers of God's Son."
North Bound Adventure:
A ministry S4G and Crossroads collaborate with to offer youth outdoor adventure and mentorship, primarily through Youth Mission Trips.
